  1. Apply to the Graduate School of Illinois State University following the procedures on their Web site at http://www.admissions.ilstu.edu/graduate/
  2. Apply to the Child Life Graduate Program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Your application should include the following
    • Please submit a personal essay addressing the following questions: What is your personal philosophy on Child Life? Why are you interested in the field of Child Life? What are your personal strengths and areas for growth? Describe your experience in working with children and families in a variety of settings.
    • Coordinate a personal interview
    • Current Resume
    • Three letters of reference
    • Original Transcripts
    • GRE scores-Graduate Students are required to take the GRE. A combined verbal / quantitative score of 1000 is preferred.
    • Graduate Assistantship Application-Graduate Assistantships are available in a limited basis. They provide a monthly stipend and cover cost of tuition (not fees)
    • Candidates with a minimum of 50 hours of hospital related volunteer work strongly perferred.
