Advisement

The FCS Advisement Office is here to guide and motivate you to become an informed and active participant in your academic planning. With accurate information and planning you can maximize your time here at Illinois State University and achieve all of your academic goals.

Who is advised in the FCS Advisement Office?

  • Students with a minimum of 24 credit hours earned who are declared FCS majors
  • If you have under 24 hours completed or you are classified as a general student, you are assigned an advisor in the University College Academic Advisement Center. Call (309) 438-7604 to schedule an appointment.

What do I do now that I am an FCS Student?

  • Declared students in FCS must complete a plan of study form. This should be completed by the student the first semester of his or her sophomore year or during a transfer student's first semester.
  • The student and the advisor will meet to discuss the plan and make necessary revisions or additions.  Both the advisor and the student will have copies and students MUST bring their copy with them to every advisement session.
  • Students should have contact with the advisor each semester.  It is recommended that students  meet with the advisor prior to the Advanced Registration Period.
  • Seniors in Family and Consumer Sciences are strongly encouraged to meet or e-mail the advisor regarding their last semester prior to the start of the Advanced Registration Period.
